The Marin Gardening School
In the 1990s, Galen founded and ran the Marin Gardening School, a center for learning with classes
that ranged from the practical to the esoteric.
Cultural Affairs Commissioner, City of San Rafael
1999 to 2000 --As Advisory Board Member, Galen reviewed proposed changes to historical buildings
in the city of San Rafael and consulted on public art, the Falkirk Cultural Center and the promotion of
art and culture in the city. His volunteer work included managing the Rose Garden restoration and
teaching landscape design at the Center.

Novato Charter School, Novato
Spring 2004 --Galen served as volunteer designer and consultant for two local school theme gardens.
The gardens were designed as
educational tools.
